In Loving Memory of Jose Mantecon

On Friday, March 21, the Mantecon family experienced a loss that no family should ever have to endure. Jose Mantecon—an incredible husband, devoted father, and cherished friend—was tragically taken from this world far too soon while working along the 91 Freeway. As a subcontractor for Caltrans, Jose was doing what he always did: showing up, working hard, and providing for his family when the unthinkable happened.

Jose was the kind of man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Steady, dependable, and deeply kind, he was a hardworking, blue-collar provider who poured his heart into everything he did. He supported his wife, Carla, and their two beautiful children, Maddie (12) and Logan (9), not only financially but with unwavering love, strength, and presence.

He was the rock of his family—level-headed, generous, and always there when someone needed him. Whether it was a strong hug, words of wisdom, or simply showing up, Jose gave the kind of support that can never be replaced.

Carla and the kids now face a future without their anchor. In addition to grieving this heartbreaking loss, they are also faced with the financial weight that comes with losing their primary provider. Carla recently launched a new small business, and while she is doing everything she can to care for her family, she needs our help.

I am a close friend of Carla's and have created this GoFundMe at her request to offer the Mantecon family support as they navigate the unimaginable—covering immediate expenses, household needs, and giving Carla some breathing room to focus on her children and their healing.
