Support the making of #OnyxTheSeries!

~Embark with us on an intergalactic journey of rebirth, empathy, and the power of memory~

Hello! My name is Brianna J. Cox and I am the creator of Onyx and the Chronicle of the Seers - A genre-bending Afrofuturistic series! Without giving too much away, Onyx is a multigenerational tale of Black women seeking escape from the multitude of pandemics facing them here on Planet Earth – racism, Covid-19, and climate change – while also preserving the memories of their ancestry and where they came from.

I am developing Onyx as my thesis project for my MFA in Film and Media Art at Emerson University. This summer and fall, my team and I plan to shoot a proof-of-concept episode named 18 Years: A Letter to Zora in New York City and Boston. I also hope to take Onyx far beyond Emerson so that it can reach as wide an audience as possible.

To that end, I am asking for whatever financial help you may be able to give to help cover production costs, both present and future. As we plan our shoots, we need funds for items such as:

-Props, costumes, and set pieces
-Actor compensation
-Food and Transportation expenses
-Digital production technology and software

Additionally, we anticipate needing funds for:
-Post-production processes
-Submitting 18 Years: A Letter to Zora to film festivals

At this time we are aiming to raise $6,000 to go towards these costs.

I believe that art like Onyx is vital for reflecting on and processing the social ills of today and imagining and creating a better tomorrow. I also hope that I may be able to inspire younger Black girls with Onyx in the same way that I have been inspired by my favorite Black women artists. I hope that you will support me in that endeavor – either by donating directly and/or by telling all your friends about Onyx – and I will eternally appreciate you if you do!

Be sure to follow us on both Twitter and Instagram: @OnyxTheSeries for more updates along the way!
