On October 13, 2025, our friend and brother Joe Mahoney (36), a Concrete Strategies journeyman laborer and proud member of LiUNA Local 42 for the past 11 years, was tragically struck by a vehicle while assisting with traffic control during equipment movement near a construction project in the Central West End.
Despite immediate medical attention and extensive care, Joe sustained devastating injuries. On October 16, he was removed from life support. Although many prayers went unanswered, Joe’s legacy of generosity and kindness continues. As an organ donor, he will give the gift of life to countless others.
Joe was a loving husband to Lauren and a devoted father to their two and a half year old son, with their baby girl due in January. Joe’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He worked hard every day to give them a life filled with love and stability.
Joe spent seven years with Concrete Strategies and previously worked with Clayco. Through the years, he earned the respect and admiration of his coworkers for his dedication, craftsmanship, and positive attitude. He was the kind of person who always showed up, gave his best, and made others feel valued.
How You Can Help
This fund has been created to support Lauren and the children as they face the difficult road ahead. With Lauren preparing to welcome their new baby while grieving the loss of her husband, we hope to ease the financial burdens that come with this unimaginable loss.
Joe was the family’s primary provider, and your support will allow Lauren to focus on caring for her children and finding strength and healing without the added worry of financial hardship.
In addition to monetary donations, we are collecting baby items and essentials for the children, including:
- Diapers (all sizes)
- Wipes
- Baby gear and baby girl clothes
- Toys and winter clothing for their son
Physical donations can be dropped off during office hours at:
- Clayco — 8640 Evans Ave., St. Louis, MO 63134
- LiUNA Local 42 — 301 S. Ewing Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103
Joe’s Legacy
When we lose a brother on the job, we don’t just lose a coworker, we lose family. Joe's hard work and spirit will forever be part of what we build. He was a true teammate who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He built not only structures, but friendships and memories that will last forever.
Through his final act of selflessness, Joe continues to impact the lives of others as an organ donor, giving hope and healing to families in need.
As we come together to honor Joe’s life and support his family, we ask that you keep Lauren, their son, and their baby girl in your thoughts and prayers. May they find comfort in knowing that Joe’s love and legacy live on through everyone he touched.
Please consider donating, sharing this page, and helping us surround the Mahoney family with love, strength, and compassion during this heartbreaking time. Thank you for your kindness and support.
