Hi, I'm Ian MacPhee and I'm requesting assistance for myself and my 4 children. Please share any amount to help support us as we have been displaced by the hurricane. It’s been an extremely hard month already as my wife (their mother) has been in a mental health crisis since the end of August. I've been on FMLA leave to try to care for my family and I'm out of vacation days and now on unpaid FMLA. As a single father of 4, I’ve been working extremely hard to give them the love and stability they need and now our home in Bakersville, NC (in Mitchell county about an hour from Ashevillle) was hit hard by Hurricane Helene. On Friday morning we took cover in the main cabin room while over 10 trees crashed down on the house. We prayed for protection through the scariest morning of our life! We are safe, but have no power, water or cell service. We were very blessed to be able to get out thanks to our neighbors who cut us a path out! We’re in temp lodging in Tennessee and I’ve applied for FEMA assistance, but it's buried in red tape and they won’t do anything until our Insurance settles and my Insurance inspection is not scheduled to even happen until 10/20. Anything you can share to support us with lodging, meals and expenses in the meantime would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support of my family during this very difficult time.
