The Los Sures Chicken Coop in Williamsburg is home to a flock of mostly rescue hens - each with their own personality and charm.
This volunteer-led program is a small, but mighty project that provides fresh eggs and nutrient rich soil to the residents of Los Sures Senior Housing.
By maintaining a small flock right in the heart of Brooklyn, we’re reducing food waste and creating compost heavy on nitrogen.
The chicken coop embodies a simple but powerful idea: that caring for animals and the environment can directly nourish our neighbors.
As winter approaches, we’re raising funds to help keep our chickens healthy, warm, and well-fed. Your donation will help cover:
- Feed to sustain our hens through the cold months
- Bedding and cleaning supplies for comfort and hygiene
- Repairs, special items, heating needs, and other essentials to maintain a safe and warm coop environment
The coop is run almost entirely by dedicated chicken caregivers, and every dollar goes directly toward caring for the flock and ensuring that our senior residents continue to receive fresh, nutritious eggs all winter long.
