Daniela was a happy and healthy baby until the age of 12 months when her parents noticed unusual symptoms. She had already learned to crawl, sit up, roll over, and was even starting to stand. She had a bright spirit and showed early signs of independence, feeding herself with ease. However, her parents noticed her legs began to shake uncontrollably, which led them to seek medical attention.

After multiple consultations, Daniela was initially misdiagnosed with cerebral palsy. It wasn't until May 24th that a genetic test revealed the heartbreaking truth—Daniela had Metachromatic Leukodystrophy, a rare genetic disorder that has no cure. Sadly, her condition had already progressed, causing her immense pain and requiring strong medications like Diazepam and morphine to manage her suffering in her final days.

This unimaginable tragedy has left her family not only grieving but also facing serious financial struggles. Daniela has siblings in El Salvador, and a baby brother who was born on July 12th, just as the family was grappling with Daniela’s deteriorating health. Her father, José A. López, works as a car mechanic, but due to Daniela’s condition, he was only able to work part-time, and sometimes not at all. Her mother, Sandra M. Anaya, is currently on maternity leave from T.J. Maxx and is expected to return to work in October. However, with the loss of Daniela, Sandra may need more time to heal and care for their newborn.
