The LLK Foundation – Honoring Karson’s Legacy of Love and Giving

Why are we starting this foundation, and why a GoFundMe? Simply put—because Karson Scott Estilette’s mission didn’t end with his passing. It’s only just beginning.

Karson was an extraordinary young man—only 18, yet filled with more compassion, wisdom, and love than most gain in a lifetime. He was intelligent, hardworking, and deeply kind. Whether through a simple conversation or a helping hand, Karson believed that every small act of kindness mattered.

On September 19, 2024, Karson was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident while heading home for a break between college classes. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, he passed away the following morning, on September 20. Our world was shattered, but even in death, Karson continued giving.

Just three months earlier, when he received his motorcycle endorsement, Karson made the intentional decision to become an organ donor. I can still remember that conversation. As his parent, I explained how that choice could affect the process at the time of death—how everything would be harvested. He simply said, “What will I need it for, Dad? If I can save someone else, that’s what I want to do.”

The LLK (Love Like Karson) Foundation is our way of continuing Karson’s mission to love and serve others. We are raising funds to:

• Support LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency) – the organization that helped Karson give the gift of life to others. LOPA performs miracles every day for families in need of hope and healing. From the moment a person is pronounced deceased, LOPA takes responsibility for the cost of the patient’s medical care associated with the donation process—lifting that burden from grieving families and allowing them space to begin healing.

• Establish an engineering scholarship at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy – for a student who shares Karson’s passion for learning and dreams of following a similar path.

This foundation exists not only to honor his memory but to carry forward his light and impact. Karson lived his life with purpose, and now it’s our turn to make sure his legacy lives on by helping others in his name.
