Support the Lewes Doo-Dah Parade Legacy

Tax deductible
The Lewes Doo-Dah Parade is a spontaneous Fourth of July event that has grown in size and popularity for over 50 years. Originally a spur of the moment show of July 4th Spirit by a close group of Lewes families, the parade is now sanctioned by the town of Lewes where it winds through the heart of town every Fourth of July. The Lewes Police Department and deputized members of the Lewes Fire Department control the traffic and the crowded sidewalks.
Along with our growth the reality of putting on the event has matured. Children of the founders of the parade were encouraged to officially submit parade applications to the Town and to the State Department of Transportation. This led to the formation of an LLC by John Hoenen, his sister Kathy Enevold and brothers Michael and Ed Shockley. Besides the insurance, the only other expenses are the cost of maintaining the LLC and the parade entry fee. The Greater Lewes Foundation oversees all of our financials and charges a small custodial fee. Our last Fundraiser covered the expenses for two years!
So here we are, asking all friends and fans of the parade to chip in for this unique event.
Our goal is to raise enough to cover the cost of three years of parades. We march every year in the memory of our mothers, Phyllis Hoenen and Carolyn Shockley - the heart and soul of the original parades!
