Holy Angels Residential Facility in Shreveport, LA, is currently constructing a new Legacy Garden on their campus. As soon as I heard of this project, I immediately thought of our dear Indiamae Kimble. Indiamae was a resident of Holy Angels most of her life and attended Caddo Parish Public Schools at 81st Street Early Childhood Education Center, University Elementary and at Youree Drive Middle School. Her precious spirit transitioned to a place without limitations in February of 2020.

I was blessed and honored to have taught Indiamae at University Elementary School in both Kindergarten and 1st grade. She was a sweet, precious young lady, but she was also never short on sass! She made a profound impact on me, and I will forever cherish her memory and all that she meant and still means to me. When I have a bad day, I listen to one of the saved voicemails on my telephone so I can hear her voice. She always ended her calls with, "I love you. Bye!" Indiamae shared her joy with everyone that she met at school, at Holy Angels, and in the community. Her personality and charisma could light up the darkest of days. Her interactions with others helped to bridge a gap and develop a culture of inclusion and acceptance for people with special needs. I miss her terribly, and I know that many others feel the same as I do about Indiamae. The Legacy Garden is a wonderful opportunity for those of us who were well-loved by Indiamae to do something meaningful in her memory. I would love to be able to raise enough money to sponsor a memorial bench in the garden. There are two benches available. Each bench is $5,000. I have created this account to try and raise enough money for a bench. I’ve spoken with a Holy Angels representative about our intentions. If we are unable to raise the full amount for a bench, we will work with the facility to find something that will work with whatever amount we can gather.
