Support the Layton Family’s Recovery from Palisades Fire
Donation protected
Fleeing through burning neighborhood roads with very few essentials, like his family’s passports, was a Tuesday that Joe Layton could never have envisioned. On the other side of the Palisades Village, Cassie raced to pick up their two young sons, Christopher and Anthony, from their schools. Thankfully, the family has reunited outside the danger zone and is staying with extended family as they begin to process the loss of their home and the widespread devastation of their community.
The Laytons are kind, strong, and fiercely independent, they would not think twice about organizing a fundraiser for someone in need; now, it is our turn to help them. Your donations will assist the family during this challenging time. These funds will be used to support unexpected costs that arise during their recovery and other needs that may not be fully covered by sources of aid.
More about the Laytons:
The Laytons are life-long Angelenos, from Westwood and La Cañada; they met in high school and married after college. This incredible couple worked tirelessly for years, to save every penny they could; ultimately purchasing a fixer-upper in the Pacific Palisades. After years of hard work, the forever-home they envisioned became a reality. Now, their world and vision for their family’s future has been upended.
This family is deeply connected to numerous wonderful communities. As organizers, we hope this crowdfunding effort is widely shared, reaching the many groups they have impacted and served.
- Joe has coached Anthony’s baseball teams (PPBA and managed Pali Riptide, sitting on the board for both) and basketball teams (at Palisades Rec and Corpus Christi School). The family has also supported Anthony’s soccer team (Surf in Santa Monica).
- Cassie has given back to the Corpus Christi School and Parish, serving as PSA President, Vice President, and Faith and Families Chair over the past three years.
- The couple are both involved members of the Jonathan Club and active alumni members at their High Schools, Marymount and Loyola.
Anthony (9), is a talented, competitive athlete and loves all things sport (and Pokémon, of course). Last time we visited the family at home, he proudly showed off the art projects he’d been making at school and went on to set up a baseball tee in the yard, playing kindly with his little brother. Christopher (2), loves to play and climb. He looks up to his big brother and wants to copy everything he does; he is a loveable, strong-willed, whirlwind toddler.
Please share this with anyone you know from the communities listed above and anyone whose lives have been touched by this incredible family. Keep them in your prayers, asking for healing and comfort. Join us in the hope that our collective efforts will bring them peace amidst the storm.

About the Organizers:
Hi, and thank you for being here to support our friends. My name is Erinn Elliott, I have known the Laytons for 23 years. Cassie and I met on the first day of summer school at Marymount in 2002 and have been close ever since. Joe and I also became friends in high school through connections at Loyola. Cassie was a bridesmaid in my wedding and I am honored to still have her in my life, raising kids at the same time and navigating life's hurdles together.
Liz (Wolf) Peters met Cassie in the dorms at USD, in 2007. When they pledged the same sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, they became best friends. From being in each others wedding, to taking girls trips and connecting over their kids, Cassie is one of Liz's dearest friends.
