Hi Friends and Family!
I’ve had an exciting opportunity come my way, and decided to roll the dice on myself and launch my endeavor into the food world this spring. It’s called Peace Burger, and it will be a mobile smashburger stand for summer, in hopes of converting into a food cart/truck this fall. Peace Burger will be serving smashburgers, french fries and iced tea — three things that I’m incredibly passionate about. Our menu will contain bootleg versions of my favorite fast-food burgers of all time, all done in the modern smashburger style that everybody has come to love over the past few years (or in some cases our entire lives ). So far we will be popping up at the Waterbury Farmers Market every Thursday evening from 4-7, however we are excited to announce a few more events very soon that are currently in the works.
WHAT I NEED YOUR HELP WITH
Things are going amazingly well so far, however I need a little bit of help to get Peace Burger over the finish line before our launch May 30th. Due to a combination of factors (extra permit/filing fees, rising cost of goods, and some state/event specific food safety rules) I am looking to raise an additional $3,500 in the next couple weeks. This budget will go towards the printing of signage/menu’s/marketing material, a new handwashing/dishwashing station that meets state/event regulations, a bulk drink ware order, and our first run of Peace Burger t-shirts.
WHY THIS, WHY NOW?
Great question! As many of you know, while working in the creative industry has been my profession for the past 15 years, my passions have always been elsewhere. After moving to Vermont and working remote for two years, I have found myself feeling extremely disconnected. Disconnected from my family and friends back in Oregon, from my community here, and from the flow of creativity that I’ve been tapping into my whole career. Food has always been something that I’ve used to connect with others, build community, and show love. This project is about just that — creating something I am passionate about and can share with everybody around me. The best part is that it also gives me an outlet to use all the skills in branding, marketing, and event production that I’ve been building for the past 15 years on.
THE FUTURE
The goal is for Peace Burger to be a piece in the beginning of something much larger. In the (hopefully near) future I want to have multiple different food cart concepts launched, a true food cart pod like you see in other cities, a community event space, and a central prep kitchen that can serve the ever growing food scene in Central Vermont. Additionally, I am also very passionate about using food to help those in need in my local community. I’m working on various ways to use Peace Burger as a vehicle for that, from donations of overages to local food shelves to volunteering time with local gleaning organizations. My hope is to be able to make the world a better place, one burger at a time. It all starts here, with the launch of Peace Burger this spring!
Thank-you to anybody who anybody made it all the way to the end of this, and a HUGE THANK-YOU who is able to donate or help support in any way. I don’t like asking for help, but believe that the universe has set me on a path, and am doing anything in my power to see it through for my own future, and the future of my family.
