U P D A T E !!!!!!! Sorry for the length.

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I updated this page for my daughter’s family as I did not get as many responses as I had prayed for, but they were so grateful for the donations they did receive. It’s really amazing how people can come together for complete strangers.

I had hoped that things would get better for Dave, Sandi, and the kids, but they are still in the nightmare from hell and as a mother it’s brutal to watch, knowing you can’t stop it. But I can do something by reaching out to others as this could happen to anyone….you never know when your entire world will flip upside down.

Unfortunately, the rental that Dave, Sandi, and the kids had to move into last July 2025 is filled with mold. Two assessments have confirmed this as Sandi was certain from day 1, but they had no choice in moving into the home at the time. The kids health has declined as well as Dave and Sandi. The dog has even been affected. This js all too familiar for them. All I can say is NOT AGAIN!!! They alerted the landlord and they have done nothing but ignore the issue. They have been released from their lease, but having just spent a great chunk of money to move into the home back in July, they cannot afford to pay the cost of moving again. It’s not feasible for anyone. Because of all the financial loss and absolute destruction of their credit after leaving their home in 2022, they are having issues getting into another rental. They have been turned down 3 times and as each day passes they grow sicker and sicker. They are stuck not being able to pay the upfront cost of moving + replacing what they will lose again in terms of clothing, furniture, and belongings that they cannot clean. This will be the 3rd rental they have had that ended up having mold or a toxic exposure that they could not live in. That doesn’t include their biggest loss in 2022 when they lost their home of 13 years.

The landlord has denied that mold is present despite the 2 mold assessments that were done in the home. They claim that they won’t remediate til they have moved out. Which we all know really means that they plan to do no remediation and just want them out so they can turn around and lease it. This is affecting each one of them in ways I can’t express entirely to all of you. Their son, Logan, is a senior at Katy High and is so sick and depressed that he isn’t fully enjoying what should be a great time in his life. The lack of friendships and simply feeling bad all the time has really changed his faith in a lot of things. No child should have to worry about the things that these kids have to worry about. We are hopeful that something will work out soon, however the clock is ticking and they need help financially to move into a home they can finally call a home. They are begging for the chance to get into a home. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I know that they will be eternally grateful for any help they receive.

Sandi is currently about to start mold consulting classes to become certified so that they don’t have to rely on expensive inspections an she will have the knowledge and certification to protect their home as well as being a service to others who need their homes checked. Thank you for your time and gracious heart!!

Hello there— it’s Linda.

I am Sandi’s mom and I am reaching out to ask for your help supporting my daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Dave, as they continue to face another painful chapter in their 4-year journey trying to recover from losing their home of 12 years to toxic mold.

To recap— In 2022, the Kyle family had to make the painful decision to leave their beloved home on Chisel Point Drive. Sadly, 3 botched remediations that took place between 2020-2021, left the home assessed as uninhabitable and unsafe for them to continue living there. During that time, Dave lost his job with BP after 10+ years with the company. The cost of paying for remediations, assessments, rebuilding the house post remediation, staying in temporary housing, medical care for everyone, replacing furniture, paying a mortgage and rent at the same time, and more, forced the Kyles to drain their bank account, savings, pension, and spiral into a financial nightmare that continues today.

Since 2021, Dave, Sandi, son Logan (17), and daughter Lyla (15) have had to live in dozens of homes since they moved out of their home due to mold. They began to get their lives back on track last summer when they moved into a house that they intended to buy by assuming the mortgage. There was FINALLY a glimmer of hope and healing. However, Dave’s contract job ended in December 2024 before the bank approved the mortgage assumption and wasn’t able to find work until he luckily found a new job this week; over 7 months since he was laid off with no income. They were able to lease this home, however, the lease ended on the 6/30 so they had to move. Their landlord, despite knowing their struggle and needing more time to find a safe home, was totally unsympathetic knowing they had no home to move into and no funds to be able to sign a new lease. Dave just started his new job the first week of July making it difficult to find someone that would lease to them. Fortunately, there was only 1 landlord that would approve them for a new lease, and unfortunately, based on the symptoms that Sandi and the kids are already having, the property most likely has mold. They do not have the money to pay for a mold assessment, nor do they have money to even pay for daily essentials or for moving, such as new shower curtains, bath matts, groceries, etc. until Dave gets his first paycheck, and that will be in two weeks.

For a long time, they tried to quietly endure this situation, but they need help despite being embarrassed and feeling that everyone is tired of their story. Both families have helped the Kyle’s financially as much as possible but we are limited as both families are retired and on fixed budgets. This is their 4th move in 3 years and they just want a home to feel safe in and start to heal. It is hard to watch as parents especially since they have given literally everything they have to start over and hopefully have a chance to rebuild some memories with their kids. The kids have lost and missed milestones they will never get back because mold stole it from them. All of this due to the negligence of dirty contractors.

Your donations will help with the following:

* Mold assessment on the current rental to see if it is safe to live there. If it has mold, they will have to move AGAIN and will need the funds to pay for applications, security deposits, movers, all the things they literally just paid for a week ago. They shouldn’t have to stay in a moldy home because they can’t afford it.
* Basic living needs for a new home such as groceries, new towels, bedding, all the things that you need to start over in a new home. They have to throw things out each time they move to avoid cross contamination.
* Medication needed to start detoxing. This is going to be a long process for each one of them. Majority of health insurance companies DO NOT recognize mold as real health issues so the cost for detox meds is astronomical.

Dave and Sandi are extremely humble and under normal circumstances would never ask for this kind of help themselves. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping a family that has suffered and deserves to be able to heal, be happy and healthy.
