On January 18,2025 our world was turned upside down. My father passed away suddenly, leaving us devastated and unprepared for the financial challenges ahead. On the very same day, my 92-year-old grandmother suffered a fall and broke her hip. She underwent surgery the next day and is now in a rehabilitation facility, where she will need ongoing care.

This has placed an overwhelming burden on my mother, who is not only grieving the loss of her husband of 45 years but also caring for her mother during her recovery. She will need to take an uncertain amount of time off work to provide the support my grandmother needs and to process her own grief.
