Support the Knights in their fight with cancer

Donation protected

This is Erika Knight, a 36 year old wife and mom of two amazing boys.  5 years ago Erika was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Now, 5 years later Erika is in the fight of her life.  The cancer has spread aggressively and is attacking almost every major organ.  There has not been a single day these past 5 years that Erika has experienced that she wasn’t receiving some type of treatment.  To say her beautiful family is weary is an understatement.  Watching her navigate this road has been nothing short of incredible, she is the strongest woman I know.  Surgery after surgery, chemo after chemo, radiation after radiation she has personified  what can only be described as uncompromising faith and perseverance.

Erika married her high school sweetheart, Michael Brandon Knight (known to everyone as Brandon), 17 years ago. Together they have worked in full time ministry throughout their entire marriage, sharing the love of Christ and ministering to the needs of others. They are parents to two boys, Ashtyn, 15 and Maddox, 13.  Hands down, Erika is one of the greatest moms I’ve ever known.  Her love for her husband and sons is fierce, the only thing that surpasses her love for her family is her love for her Lord.

My name is Jill Everaard and Erika is my best friend. Our families have known each other over 20 years, my husband and I were Erika and Brandon’s youth pastors, officiated their wedding, were at the birth of each other’s children, have celebrated many joys and navigated some horrific sorrows.  The most excruciating of those sorrows is cancer.  Nine years ago our baby boy Gray was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer at the age of two.  Erika and Brandon never let us walk a single moment of that nightmare alone.  In fact, they created and maintained a blog for our family throughout our entire journey with Gray.  Erika became my voice, I shared all updates with her and she eloquently wrote from my perspective.  After 2 years of treatment Gray completed his assignment here on earth and went home to be with the Lord.  I never knew I could feel that much pain.  Erika was an amazing support to me, cancer is so isolating but she never let me disappear.  Two years after losing Gray, my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer.  It seemed so unfair...cancer is unfair! So now after 5 years of treatment it is my honor to be her voice and tell her story.  She is nearing the completion of her assignment here, so please join with us and share her amazing story, pray for her family and if you are able, donate to this incredible family! Medical expenses are high and the battle has been long, but Erika has fought the good fight and is finishing her race.
