Honoring a Legacy of Love:
Following the Example of Saundra Reed Kirby
Saundra Reed was a pillar, firmly planted, deeply rooted, and immovable in her love for God, family, and community.
As shared during her memorial, she was a woman whose faith was lived out in action. She did not simply speak about service; she was service. She saw needs before they were named and stepped in without hesitation. Where there were gaps, she filled them. Where children needed covering, she became shelter. Where families needed strength, she showed up with her substance, including her time, her resources, her wisdom, and her love.
Scripture reminds us that “a good woman leaves an inheritance for her children’s children.” Mama Saundra" lived this truth daily. Her life was a testimony, not only to what she believed, but to how she loved.
A Loss Felt Deeply, Especially by the Children
The passing of Mama Saundra is a tremendous loss to our community. She was a trusted voice, a steady presence, and a quiet force for good. Many benefited from her prayers, her counsel, and her willingness to stand in the gap.
But for the children she loved most, the loss is beyond words.
In one unexpected moment, their world was turned upside down. The voice that prayed over them, the presence that grounded them, and the hands that guided them through everyday life are no longer physically here. While we trust God’s promises, we also recognize that grief is real, and children need consistency, care, and community as they navigate a new reality.
This fund exists because faith calls us to action.
Meet the Kirby Kids
The Kirby Kids are the living legacy of Saundra Reed’s love. Each is in a meaningful season of growth and becoming, and each deserves to be surrounded with stability, encouragement, and opportunity.
Naeem is graduating from high school and preparing to step into his next chapter. As he navigates college tours, applications, and the transition to independence, this fund helps ensure he can move forward with confidence and support.
Kaylani, a high school sophomore, is in a formative season, building academic focus, confidence, and clarity around her future goals.
Jamil, an avid band head, is preparing to enter eighth grade. His love for music and performance is a source of pride and purpose, and continued access to enrichment and creative outlets is essential as he grows.
Kori, a sixth grade fashionista, is navigating middle school with creativity, individuality, and courage, learning who she is and finding her voice in this new chapter.
These children are navigating milestones, transitions, and grief all at once. They are why this fund matters.
Why This Fund Exists
The Saundra Reed Kirby Kids Foundation Fund was created to honor Saundra not just in word, but in deed.
She believed deeply in caring for children, not only her great grandchildren, but children throughout her community. She gave of her substance so that children would have what they needed to grow, to dream, and to thrive.
This fund represents a long term commitment to the overall well being of the Kirby Kids, including:
• Emotional and spiritual support
• Educational growth and opportunity
• Creative and extracurricular enrichment
• Stability through life’s transitions
• Care that extends beyond moments into years
This is not a one time act of generosity. This is legacy work.
Continuing Her Example
Saundra Reed did not wait for others to do the work; she became the worker. She lived out the call to “love thy neighbor” through faithful, consistent action.
Today, we invite you to follow her example.
Your gift, whether one time or recurring, is a way of standing in the gap. It is a way of helping carry what she carried. It is a way of ensuring that these children remain covered, supported, and uplifted.
Monthly, recurring gifts are especially meaningful. They reflect the kind of steady, faithful presence Saundra modeled, support that shows up not just once, but over time.
Why We Begin Now
We are launching this fund during the holiday season and in honor of Saundra Reed’s birthday on December 20, a time of reflection, faith, and generosity.
This is just the beginning.
We trust that God will multiply every seed sown and that what is given in love will return in impact, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
Here's our Invitation,
We hope you will join us in following Mama Saundra's example with your gift. Give as you are able. Give monthly if you feel led and share. Together, we can ensure that her legacy is not only remembered but lived out.
"Well done, my good and faithful servant. " This is our response.
With gratitude and faith,
Saundra Reed -Kirby Kids
