Melissa Kirby Love Fund

Melissa Fernandez Kirby, our beloved friend, wife, mother, daughter, younger sister, daughter in law, and sister in law, left this world sadly on the evening of Sunday, September 15, 2019.  She was a beautiful soul.  Just 2 weeks ago she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastrointestinal, Peritoneal Cancer which is a very aggressive and rare form of cancer, Melissa fought valiantly.  She wanted to live for her family, but this type of cancer is incurable and never shows any symptoms until it hits Stage 4.  Melissa transitioned peacefully surrounded by her family and close friend.  She was loved and treasured by so many, and our hearts are heavy as we look to the days ahead.  A vibrant, kind and gentle spirit who touched our lives, we are forever grateful to have had her with us for as long as we did.

Melissa’s husband Brian, and two beautiful children Penelope (11), and Max (7) were her world.  Melissa was the epitome of an amazing mother and wife.   She was a sweet daughter and the youngest of 5 siblings.  She made every single day special for her family.  She was all about the small touches, the little things to give them that extra big smile.  Melissa was heavily involved in the Ohlone school community.  She was not only Secretary for the PTA, but she also spearheaded several fundraising campaigns for the school.      Last year she co-planned the ultimate 5th grade promotion ceremony which her goal was to “set a higher bar”  for the following promoting classes.  That, she did, it was first of its kind at Ohlone.

We want to honor Melissa’s memory in the best way possible and as she wished.  Those who are able to contribute any amount large or small, to help Brian and the children with any financial needs they will endure.  If you cannot make a financial contribution, then please just offer a prayer or words of encouragement to help this beautiful family take one step at a time living their life with this devastation loss.
