The Kevin Shaw Jr Memorial Scholarship Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit New York State tax-exempt organization, founded in memory of Kevin Shaw Jr., a bright and accomplished young man who tragically lost his life to gun violence at the age of 26.

A gifted student he received an academic scholarship to Rice High School's Honors Program, followed by a four year academic scholarship to Fairfield University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with a double major in Finance and Accounting. In 2013, at just 24 years old he earned his MBA from George Washington University.

The Foundations Mission is to raise awareness about gun violence, provide scholarships to young men and women graduating high school and going to college, deliver life skills mentoring through basketball, educational and community based events. To date awarded there have been 37 recipients totaling $75,000.00 not including 2025 recipients.

On Saturday July 12, 2025 under Each One Teach One NY Legends Fred "Disco/Downtown Brown, George "Kite" Biggs, Curtis "Cornbread" Phauls and Entertainers 155 proudly present the Kevin Shaw Jr. Foundation 4th Annual Anti-Gun Violence Day at the world famous Holcombe Rucker Park in Harlem NY (280 west 155th St. NYC 10039).

The 2025 event will feature a Special Memorial Tribute to the late Bill Sadler honoring his life and legacy. Pepperdine University All-Star, NBA Draft Pick (Dallas Mavericks), Rucker Park Hall of Famer, Basketball Icon. 3 live basketball games. 2 youth showcase games featuring the New Jersey Bulldogs vs New York Cota. 1 wheelchair Basketball game featuring the New York Rolling Fury of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. There will be Live Guest Speakers & Special Presentations. Voices of change and hope, addressing gun violence prevention, youth empowerment and the importance of community mentorship. Music & Entertainment. The event will be hosted by legendary MC's, Duke, Al, EJ & Brawley. A performance by the Lady Lions a celebrated female youth dance group, as well as a special guest performer.

There will also be a special recognition whereas Each One Teach One will honor Fred Brown Virginia Commonwealth All-Star, NBA Draft Pick (Phoenix Suns) Pro Rucker & Entertainers 155 (EBC) Hall of Famer, for his lifetime of leadership, mentorship and dedication to youth and community empowerment.

The funds raised are to cover the costs for event marketing (flyers/posters), uniforms, plaques/trophies, basketball equipment, park set up/staffing, DJ, referees, photographer, videographer, banner, liability insurance, MC's, miscellaneous (water, ice, banner clips, etc.), special surprise performance.
