Aloha everybody,
On 8/24/18 a fire started in Lahaina, Maui and, as a lot of you probably know, burned 1,500+ acres of land that left many families homeless, including my family. I remember getting the call from my mom that night to let me know that they were safe, but that everything was gone. All the homes on the family land, their clothes, all of their personal belongings were gone. As a result of the strong winds that came from Hurricane Lane, the fire swept down the mountain so fast that they could only leave with what they had on their backs.
I am so happy and grateful to know that everybody made it safely out of there, but now they are faced with the reality of literally starting from nothing. My family consists of two brothers, my mom, and her fiancee. They are hardworking, strong, caring, amazing people, and they have gone through some hard struggles in life. They have always tried their best to push through and make it in this world. My family was prepared for a hurricane this weekend; for rain. They were not prepared for a fire to ravage through the land and take everything that they had to their name. Now they are trying to pick up the pieces of what is left of their life, to brush their hands off and move forward.
On behalf of my family, I am asking for your help in getting my family to move forward from this devastating event; to ease their transition as much as possible. Any help is greatly and wholeheartedly appreciated.
Mahalo piha!
