My name is Lorena Resendes and for as long I could remember, I had always been fascinated by the world of law and legal justice. It all began in elementary school, at a time the world went on pause, the United States itself faced many challenges within the legal aspect of the country. As I entered middle school, I realized I had a love for debate, where not only was it about arguing using factual statements, but also where I could involve empathetic and logical thinking. High school is where I found the biggest shift in my opinions toward a career in law. I knew with graduating early that I had to have a purpose and a goal. With lots of trial of error, I took a deep dive into what I truly enjoy and care about and everything has led back to my aspiration for law.
Recently, I had been nominated for the National Youth Leadership Forum: Law & CSI summer 2025 program by WorldStrides. This eight day experience dives into the reality of law and CSI practice where I get to experience future-altering enrichment that can set me up for success. I will also be able to obtain college credit for this experience while attending at George Mason University. I get to also hear insight from the legendary profiler and FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit Founder, John Douglas, who had worked with famous criminal investigations such as Charles Manson and Ted Bundy.
If I would be able to attend this 'once in a lifetime' experience, I would be able to learn more about a career path that has always inspired to work harder and put as much effort in as I can. This would be an unforgettable, beneficial, and dream-like experience.
