Support the Johns family with Garry’s Recovery

Donation protected

Friday 29th January 2021,
Garry had a tragic accident where he fell 2 stories from a tree landing on a saw.

Garry was immediately rushed into Hervey Bay hospital and went into theatre to try and stop the bleeding as he has severed the main artery in his right leg.

After hours of trying to stabilise him and preform CPR 3 times, doctors needed to transfer him to Royal Brisbane woman’s hospital to get him the treatment he urgently needed.  Family was told that he may not make the plane flight as he was not stable enough but this was his only hope.

Garry made the flight to Brisbane and went straight into theatre that night. Surgeons were able to stop the bleeding, but ran into other issues. Garry definitely is a fighter!

Sunday (31st) Garry’s right leg was not receiving blood flow it needed nor did it have a pulse. His leg was later that day amputated to above the knee

Garry has undergone 8 surgeries since Friday with more scheduled to come in the following days. He remains unconscious in a very, very  critical condition in ICU.

Jeremy - Garrys son is staying in Brisbane liaising with doctors and surgeons each day about his fathers future and recovery.

This being said the cost of accomodation, food, travel expenses are all adding up. I’m creating this go fund me page to help with daily expenses for the Johns family, expenses for Tricia (Garry’s wife) Jeremy and Rianah (Garrys daughter)  to be able to be by his fathers side, and hopefully go towards some medical bills such as a prosthetic later down the track.

The Johns family thank everyone for the kind words and support during this difficult time.

Garry isn’t out of the woods yet, but anyone who knows him knows his strong and he will fight through this.

If you are able to help out during this time please do, every little bit counts and will go towards this family being able to stay together and get through this with one less thing on their mind.

UPDATE:

Unfortunately Garry was not/ did not improve - with brain injury now a result of him not being able to wake. His family have been closely liaising with doctors and had to come to a hard decision to stop treatment with Garry’s best interest at heart. All who know Garry knows he wouldn’t want to live like this.

All funds raised after Jeremys travel and accommodation cost to be with his father will be put towards a funeral and service.
