Help Rebuild After Tragedy in Washington Terrace: House Fire Leaves Jensen Family Displaced & Heartbroken
On June 19, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, tragedy struck our wonderful neighbors, Buffy and Cory Jensen, when a devastating house fire tore through their home, leaving unimaginable damage in its wake. In mere moments, they lost nearly everything—belongings, memories, and, most heartbreakingly, five cherished cats—Jasper, Ellie, Leroy, Luna, and Tilly—who didn’t make it out.
Adding to this sorrow, Artmus, the neighborhood stray who had become part of the Jensen family and was often found sunbathing on the porch or curled up beside them, also passed away in the fire. He was a quiet presence with a big personality, and his loss is felt deeply by all who knew him.
Their two beloved dogs, Bella and Mac, were rushed for emergency care due to severe smoke inhalation. Buffy and Cory also suffered from smoke inhalation and required medical attention. While we’re incredibly grateful they survived, the emotional and physical toll is overwhelming.
The Jensens believe the fire may have originated from their scooter, which had been parked in the garage to cool down after use. That possibility has made the loss even more difficult to process, as they try to make sense of how quickly everything changed.
Buffy and Cory are now facing the long road of recovery without a home, grappling with medical bills, emergency pet care, and the daunting task of starting over.
That’s why we’re asking for your support—no contribution is too small to help the Jensens find hope in the midst of heartbreak. Every donation brings a little more stability and comfort back into their lives.
Let’s rally together to show them they’re not alone in this. Your kindness, whether through donations or by simply sharing their story, means more than words can express.
Thank you for being part of the healing.
