Hello everyone, my name is Amanda McCloskey, and I am a member of the Chrome Angels Riding Club alongside my friend and sister, Erin. I am reaching out to share the story of a truly awful and tragic accident that has forever changed Erin’s family.

On September 26, 2025, Erin, her husband Tom, and three of their four children were involved in a devastating head-on collision. While driving home, another vehicle attempted to pass a tractor trailer and struck their Tahoe head-on at approximately 65–70 mph, causing catastrophic damage.

In the split seconds before impact, Tom recognized what was about to happen and made the selfless decision to position the vehicle in a way that took the brunt of the crash himself, sparing his wife and children. Because of his bravery and sacrifice, Erin and the children were able to escape the vehicle on their own. Tragically, Tom was left heavily pinned, requiring a lengthy and difficult extrication.

The family was transported to the hospital. Erin and the two youngest children were released that evening with no injuries. Their son Colton was admitted with multiple fractured ribs and a small spleen laceration. Tom, however, was airlifted to Christiana Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Anyone who has met Tom and Erin knows they are the kind of people who would do ANYTHING for others. They are compassionate, giving, thoughtful, and selfless in every way. Now, it is our turn to be there for them. Tom has a very long road to recovery ahead, and Erin is staying close by his side, currently in hotels near the hospital. In the coming weeks, she will need to travel back and forth to their home in Georgetown while managing everything for her family.

I have spoken with Erin’s sister who has given me the families blessing to create this GoFundMe. All donations will go directly toward easing the financial burden this tragedy has placed on them, from medical expenses to travel and lodging. Even the smallest contribution will make a difference and provide much-needed support to this incredible family during the hardest time of their lives.

Medical Update on Tom 10/9:

Tom has been downgraded from the ICU and is no longer on a breathing tube. He underwent his seventh surgery today and is expected to need an additional 3–5 surgeries in the coming weeks. His family has remained by his side throughout this difficult time.

As expected, Tom is experiencing significant pain, but he continues to fight hard. The family deeply appreciates all the prayers, support, and encouragement they’ve received.

At this time, they are looking for temporary housing near the hospital, as their current hotel no longer has availability. If you know of anyone with a rental space nearby, please reach out.
