On Sunday, May 16, 2021, Persian (Iran) Hebrew Congregation was vandalized, and our window was broken. Due to the nature and the evidence collected, the case has been upgraded to a hate crime. As you can imagine, this vile action was a shock to us and the surrounding community. This has brought tremendous fear and anxiety to our congregants, causing many to stay home and to not join in the holiday celebration in our building this past week.

Many individuals have reached out to us to express their concern and offer their assistance and have inquired as to what our needs are, therefore, we felt an explanation is warranted and decided to use this platform to share that information.
We would like your help with the expense of providing security personnel outside our building during weekly services. We are a small congregation with limited funds. On average the cost of providing security personnel is approximately $400 per week, not including holidays, roughly $20,800 per year. We are asking for your help to provide the congregation with two years of additional security, which would amount to $41,600. We are asking for a total of $45,000 to cover each week and several additional holidays.
We were recently awarded funds to start security upgrades on our building and have been implementing them during the past two weeks. Thank God, with the installation of new cameras we were able to capture clear and very helpful pictures of the attack and provide this information to the local authorities. Our current timeline for our upgrades is approximately two to three years until completion, with our biggest project being the replacement of our building’s windows. Therefore, we feel it is imperative that we have security personnel in place for the upcoming two years!
We are a real family, with generations of families attending daily, as well as Sabbath and Holiday services, and sharing kiddish (a meal) each week in our building. This has been especially hard for us because we only recently opened after the Covid-19 shutdowns.
We want to thank you in advance for reading about our request and for your support. If you are not able to assist financially, please share our link with your friends. We appreciate every effort you make to assist us in this endeavor.
