We are the Hunter Jumper Club at UC Davis, a student-run organization comprised of around 50 dedicated undergraduates from all riding levels. Our team is a vital resource for advancing our members' riding careers and a crucial outlet for alleviating stress. However, we are currently facing a severe financial crisis.
Although not mandatory, some of our members compete in IHSA horse shows against schools like Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UN Reno. We have a team of eleven horses at the on-campus equestrian center for those who don’t have their own horses to ride. We are financially responsible for these horses, whom we love dearly, but they are very costly to maintain.
Each horse costs an average of $650 per month for board, feed, shoes, and vet care. Unexpected vet bills can range from $150 to $2,000 per month. Additionally, our team’s equipment expenses can reach up to $18,000. Currently, we are struggling to cover these costs and are in desperate need of donations.
Our goal is to continue offering a fun, affordable opportunity for equestrians at UC Davis, regardless of whether they own a horse. We urgently need your help to keep our team from having to downsize.
Any amount of support is greatly appreciated, whether through donations or simply spreading the word. Please help us maintain the Hunter Jumper Club at UC Davis!
