Support The Hunt: A Dystopian Film Journey!

Dear loved ones, fellow storytellers and future collaborators,

We ask you to take a minute and kindly unplug from your everyday reality and join us on a wild journey into creative madness in bringing our fever dream of a short film, The Hunt, to life!

We are Alex Shandelman, Andrew Luber and Tyler Crystal, three filmmakers who have spent the past year working tirelessly on our first film as a trio. Inspired by philosopher Jacques Lacan, The Hunt explores the horror of defining one's own identity and the beauty of uncovering solace in the unknown.

Logline

In a dystopian forest governed by a mysterious Motherboard, a lone wolf's desperate quest to join an ethereal pack spirals into a surreal battle for identity as he confronts the terrifying truth of what lies beneath his mask.

The Here and Now

After pouring our heart and soul into the screenplay, we are now deep in pre-production. The plan is to shoot over the first two weekends in December. It's an exciting journey as we work to assemble all the pieces, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have some amazing talent already on board in key roles:

Why We Need YOUR Help

We've worked hard to get the project to a great place, writing the script with producibility in mind. The film is set in one location, features one main actor, and much of our crew has generously agreed to work pro-bono. While we've made incredible progress, we still need funding to cover essential expenses and bring our project to the promised land:

Production and Costume Design

We’re world building here…our main character sports a one of a kind costume and lives in a one of a kind home: half woods/half apartment. To achieve the costume, we are crafting masks by hand and designing the costumes from scratch. To achieve the setting, we need a TON of natural fixtures to infuse with the industrial elements of the space. A cohesive style is imperative to making the film feel full and grounded - let’s make this world live and breathe!

Baseline Production Needs

We need to cover the basics to ensure the shoot runs smoothly; which includes: equipment rentals, additional crew, insurance, food etc.

Post Production

Because the script is written with minimal dialogue, we will be relying on the likes of motion graphics, visual effects, sound design and music to carry the story. The industry is starving for something with this strong of a tone - we must feed the beast!

Festival Circuit

With an inevitable festival tour in our future, there’s an inherent price that coincides: submission fees, travel expenses and additional marketing costs just to name a few.

Almost Done We Swear

This film is truly our life's work and is our first and maybe only opportunity to show the world what we're made of as artists and truly as human beings. Our true goal with this short is to launch The Hunt into the next stratosphere in the form of a full length feature film!

As for our aspirations as filmmakers however, this does not even scratch the surface. Our commitment to telling the most meaningful and thematic stories is priority number one, something we feel is lost on today’s content creators. Today, we are merely asking for a helping hand in getting our short film across the finish line…but with your help, we can set a new trail ablaze that will change the future of storytelling forever!
