Home care workers will resume their Hunger Strike at 12pm noon outside of New York City Hall on Tuesday, July 28, and continue day and night until City Council Speaker Julie Menin submits the No More 24 Act. For years, home care workers have been forced to work sleepless 24-hour workdays caring for disabled and elderly individuals, robbing workers of their health, lives, and wages. Even the United Nations has denounced 24-hour workdays for endangering both home care workers and those they care for. Home care workers and all New Yorkers demand Speaker Menin to not bow down to Governor Kathy Hochul, insurance companies, and special interests who block the legislation, and immediately submit the original No More 24 Act to end the torture of 24-hour workdays once and for all!
