Dawn Marie Petrolis Huber - loving wife, daughter, sister, and soon to be mother. With her husband, Jake, they eagerly awaited the arrival of their first born on January 10, 2021. A little baby boy to be named Jericho Liam.
On Monday December 28, 2020, early in the morning, our world was thrust into chaos. Dawn went into sudden eclampsia, having multiple seizures and a stroke. She was taken by ambulance for an emergency c-section. Both Dawn and Jericho suffered greatly.
The following days were a blur of ups and downs. Because of COVID-19, the hospital regulations are extremely strict. No one has been able to see Dawn. Poor Jake cannot hold her hand or even be in the same building. Luckily, he can stay with Jericho. Both mother and son lost brain function due to lack of oxygen and high blood pressure. Dawn has had two brain surgeries to ease the swelling. She currently has no movement on the left side of her body. The doctors believe she can regain the strength over time and with physical therapy. Jericho, however, has shown zero brain activity.
Our hearts are breaking in two. We fear Dawn will never be able to hold her baby. We cannot even begin to understand the devastation Jake is feeling. Our family is hurting. Dawn has spent her whole career caring for others' babies, to be robbed of her own is a travesty.
While our hearts are broken for the loss of Jericho, we also know that there are mounting hospital and funeral bills. We need to not only provide love and support, but to help ease this financial burden so Jake and Dawn can focus on each other and Dawn's future physical therapy. Friends and family are needed now more than ever. We are asking anyone to help in any way they can. Please consider helping with these piling expenses. Dawn is fighting for her life.
