On what began as a normal day, Dana Hooven received a call that would change everything—a call no one ever wants to get. While traveling home from session in Springfield, she learned her house was on fire.
Thanks to the heroic efforts of the Harrisburg Fire Department, Dana, her husband Danny, and their teenage son Cort are all safe—but their home is no longer habitable. Tragically, the fire claimed the lives of two beloved family pets, Duke and Sansa. The heartbreak is immeasurable.
We are so thankful that their other dog, Rooster and cat, Gizmo, were rescued. A heartfelt thank-you to Dapper Dogs for lovingly stepping in to care for them during this incredibly difficult time.
The road ahead for the Hooven family will be long as they begin to piece together their lives, home, and sense of normalcy. Immediate needs like temporary housing, clothing, pet care, and replacing essentials are overwhelming, but with the support of a loving community, we can help lift some of that burden. Anyone that knows Dana like we do know she would give the clothes off her back to someone in need. It is now a time for us to show her that same love and compassion.
Unfortunately, their renter’s insurance doesn’t cover this kind of accident. So, the contents of their home is not being covered.
We are asking for donations to help Dana and her sweet family rebuild after this devastating loss. Every little bit helps, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with them.
Rest easy, Duke and Sansa—you were so deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
