He's working around the clock—driving for DoorDash, taking on freelance projects, and applying everywhere from Target to Wegmans. He's doing everything possible to support his family, but it's not enough to cover their basic needs.

Saj, Candace, Jenna, and Zacki are facing the very real possibility of losing their home. As their community, we have the power to help them through this crisis. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings them closer to stability and keeps this loving family together under one roof.

Dear Friends, Family, and Neighbors,

I’m reaching out to ask for your help in supporting my dear friend Saj Hoffman-Hussain and his family during a truly challenging time. Saj is a kind, generous person who has always been willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, but now he and his family need our support.

Saj, his wife Candace, and their two children, Zaki and Jenna, are Brighton residents, and the kids attend Brighton schools. Saj recently achieved a lifelong goal of buying their first home, but life has thrown some unexpected curveballs his way. Over the past year, Saj has been laid off three times due to circumstances beyond his control. Despite being incredibly talented in content strategy and marketing, the job market in his field is extremely tight right now.

Saj has been doing everything possible to keep his family afloat—taking work wherever he can, including DoorDash, and applying to jobs in every field, from service roles to professional marketing positions. He also runs his own consultancy, but as we all know, it’s incredibly tough to build steady income from scratch. Candace is working as much as possible, but with bills piling up and unemployment benefits set to run out in just four weeks, they’re struggling to make ends meet.

The family has no savings cushion to fall back on, and the stress of covering their monthly expenses—mortgage, utilities, groceries, and other necessities—is overwhelming. Saj would never ask for help on his own, so I’m stepping in to rally support for this incredible family.

Our goal is to raise at least $8,500 to help with their monthly expenses, giving them the breathing room they need so Saj can focus on finding stable work without the immediate fear of losing their home or falling further behind.
