$1,855 raised of $3K

Please consider supporting the Hernandez Family as they move out of their home of 60 years due to an unjust forced eviction by the church stewarding the home (a pastoral parsonage), which came as a result of the passing of our Matriarch, Maria Hernandez. Supporting the Hernandez family in moving out of their home before the 28th of August will ensure that they can prevent an eviction on their record.
Your donations and mutual aid will support:
Paying for a 6 month storage unit
The moving of our 4th generation family piano
The rental of a U-Haul (s)
The moving of large appliances
Rental Application Fees
Any additional unexpected needs

Further Context:
The home was a parsonage for our grandparents the Reverend Samuel and Maria Hernandez. They lived in the home during my grandfather's time as a pastor for the church and were given permission to live in the home until their deaths. After nearly 60 years in the home, the church administration sent an eviction notice to the Hernandez family as a result of the passing of our grandmother, Maria Hernandez, 3 days after she passed and again a week after her funeral. Though not a surprise to us that we would return our home back to the church, we did not anticipate their lack of cooperation and compassion, especially in our time of mourning. We began a process 2 years ago hoping to come to an agreement regarding the transition and attempted to come to a solution in response to the notice and were met with opposition and a court order. In attempt to prevent the eviction, we asked for more reasonable time to vacate the home in court and were denied. Through the legal advocacy and representation of Jamaar Williams, and the amazing presence of Valley Tenants Union, friends and family, we were able to negotiate with the court to exit the home before our court ordered eviction date. If we vacate before August 28th, we will successfully halt the eviction. Your support will help us to navigate this complicated move on a very short timeline. We appreciate you!
We're grateful to Valley Tenants Union for supporting us in this crowdfunding campaign!
Thank you so much for your love and support. It has been a light to us and has given us strength during this complex transition.
