Supporting Kyle "Buddy" Hergert's Family

Donation protected
Kyle "Buddy" Hergert lived with a life marked with character, substance, morals, honesty, generosity, passion, compassion, humor, and intelligence. Kyle passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2021. Our hearts are completely broken.

At age 49, Kyle left us far too soon. He epitomized what it means to live every day to the fullest. He was a friend to many. He made us laugh. He was the calm in chaos. He filled his life with the things that mattered. His family – April, Jacob, and Conner – was everything. He was our love, our laughter, our reason for wanting to be better, our courage, and our family. He made us all better people. He made this community better.

As many of you know, Kyle provided positive opportunities for so many boys in our community to participate in a quality youth sports experience. He coached at Eastern Little League for more than a decade and the Sacramento Capitols baseball team in 2017. He coached youth football teams at El Camino and Jesuit High Schools for his sons.  He made the field a home away from home for many kids where they learned countless valuable life lessons. Strong and lasting friendships have been created on these fields. He created a safe environment for kids to learn and grow and gain confidence.

Kyle moved to Sacramento from his home town of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He began working for the Sacramento Kings, which is where he met the majority of his friends, but more importantly the love of his life, his wife April. He was one the greatest sales individuals and a mentor to all that had the opportunity to work with him.

It is heartbreaking to share this news, but we believe in the strength of our community. So, whether Kyle was your friend, your family, a colleague, a fellow King’s, Rockies, or Nuggets fan or co-worker, a second dad to your child (as he was to so many), a karaoke partner, a fantasy football competitor, a familiar face in the crowd at a Rio or little league game, coached your son in little league, offered you a giant bear hug when you needed one most, supported you in a hard time, or inspired you as a coach, a player, a parent or friend we hope you will consider supporting April and her boys.

Jacob will be a senior and Conner will be a freshmen at Rio Americano High School next year. Both plan to attend a four-year college upon graduation. Toward this end a college trust fund has been established for the boys. Your donations will ensure that this beloved family’s expenses are met and that Kyle’s generous spirit and legacy lives on through April, Jacob, and Conner.

Kyle will be remembered as positive leader within his community as he made everyone he touched feel like they were his own family.

Thank you for your steadfast support of the Hergert family.

With sincere appreciation.
