Dear contributing and future partners of the Hawaiian Oboe Legacy Project:
On behalf of the Hawaiian Oboe Legacy Project, we want to wholeheartedly thank those who have contributed to this campaign - the donations thus far made such a difference in furthering the Project's goals of taking the Kauila Oboe 'home' to Kauai, presenting a filmed free community concert event on November 4, with a stimulating q & a session following the performance - plus interviews on Nov. 5 with two cultural partners to the Project, Mickey Sussman (who donated the Kauila wood to build the oboe), and Sabra Kauka, a Hawaiian Culture specialist. All of this activity would not have been possible without your generous support.
The Hawaiian Oboe Legacy Project is now working on a short 'sizzle reel', drawing from archived footage of the Nov. 4 and 5 activity to create a four minute video to help sustain and promote ongoing and future activity, including the creation of a Documentary feature chronicling the development of the Project from its inception in June, 2016 up to and including the November, 2024, activity. To support this important part of the Project, applications have been submitted to both the National Endowment for the Arts and the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts to help secure funding for the creation of the Documentary film. We will keep you all informed as to our progress in securing this important funding.
Also, if you would like to help the Project by making a year-end tax-deductible contribution to current and future activity it would be most appreciated! Once the 'sizzle reel' is completed we will be happy to share it with all of you.
Many thanks for your consideration, and please enjoy a Happy and safe Holiday Season!
