Please help support the Hasko Family during Joey's medical journey. Joey had a very important doctors appointment that quickly changed things for our family. Joey has had medical issues since birth. He is a multi complex medically fragile child. He has respiratory issues and severe scoliosis just to name a few. Doctors had scheduled a surgery for a complete back bone fusion on January 14th. This was being done to help Joey be able to help him with his posture, and his respiratory issues. His organs at this time are being pressed together due to his curvature which is compromising his organs. While at his doctors visit unfortunately we found out that the scoliosis had progressed to a 100 percent curve. Doctors were not expecting this change of almost 20 degrees since his last visit in May.. This made the doctors have to change their course of treatment. What started out as a few weeks stay in the hospital will potentially be up to 10 weeks. This will also require him to get two very extensive surgeries during that 10 week time. As you can imagine this will be a severe hardship for the family. Dad will need to take a leave from work to be with his family during this time. Some of which will be paid but most of which will be unpaid. Mom will be Joey's main caregiver which will not allow her to bring in any money for the family. Joey will be taken out of school after Thanksgiving to keep him as healthy as possible for the upcoming surgeries. Once Joey is admitted to the hospital there will be daily expenses the family will need to cover. Just the travel costs for fuel and tolls along with money for food while Joey is hospitalized will be a large expense. The family recently purchased a wheelchair mobility van so Joey could get back and forth to school, doctors appointments and to improve his ability to participate in daily events. This took us a long time to be able to secure for him. Which as I am sure you can understand took a large amount of money to secure. This also makes it more difficult as there is no money in savings to help during the time of Joey's hospital stay. The van was life changing for Joey and it was a necessity for him.
Joey is a 2nd grade student in Deptford, NJ. He is a kind, friendly and happy child. Thank you for getting to know his family’s story. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS. It was brought to our attention that GoFundMe will suggest an amount to donate. This is not a feature I am able to disable/turn off or change the amount. We appreciate any amount you are comfortable giving.
