Support The Hansens as Margarett Fights Cancer
Margarett, my little sister, was diagnosed with breast cancer on July 7th. In early June, she found a lump doing a self breast exam. Pregnant with her 3rd boy and still breastfeeding boy #2, her hope was it was just hormones. Pregnancy excluded her from getting a mammogram, so she had an ultrasound followed by a biopsy.
She knows exactly where she and Kris were standing when the doctor called with the news that would change everything. Dealing with the shock of being pregnant with cancer at 36, she entered into a whirlwind of tests and appointments to get more information. She had days where she had 1-3 doctors appointments and multiple calls with offices all while trying to arrange childcare for her two little boys, figure out which appointments Kris could even be at (thanks COVID), and working through how to tell Eli (age 4) what was happening. Then came tests, labs, a mammogram after all, a second biopsy, more specialist appointments, genetic testing and the establishment of a treatment plan.
So many have reached out asking how to support Margarett & Kris during this fight. One way is through a donation which will help them with medical bills, childcare, and meals. With the unexpected gap in employment due to COVID, they accumulated over $10K in medical bills in less than three weeks. Although Kris is away for the next 6-8 months training with the Air Force, they are thankful for the provision and health insurance. Your support in any amount would be a blessing!
