On April 1st, Christy and Trevor Hall welcomed their beautiful daughter, Carva, into the world at Tahoe Forest Hospital. What should have been a peaceful transition home quickly turned into a traumatic medical emergency when Carva suddenly stopped breathing at just 4 days old. Christy administered CPR while the ambulance was en route. They spent 8 days at Renown and Carva was discharged home on oxygen. Less than 48 hrs later, Carva stopped breathing again requiring resuscitation from her parents.

Carva was then rushed to the PICU at Renown where her condition proved rare and complex, complicated by apnea, respiratory failure and seizures. After nearly a month at Renown, Carva was airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Utah to receive more specialized care.

Despite everything she has endured in her short life, Carva continues to be the sweetest little fighter as her medical team works to fully understand and treat her very serious condition.

This situation has also been hard on their 2½-year-old son, Pierson. He’s been a champ, cared for by grandparents (Bill & Ava Riva, and Tony & Karen Hall) and friends while Christy and Trevor spend every day and night at Carva’s side. Pierson enjoys his hospital visits to see “his baby”—brief but meaningful moments when they can be together as a family of four.

This journey has taken an immense emotional and financial toll on the Hall family. Christy, a nurse, and Trevor, a firefighter/paramedic, have dedicated their careers to caring for others in their community. Now, they need our support.
