Support the Halbert Family with Lennox’s recovery
Donation protected
On April 16, Lennox went to school like any normal day. By 1 PM, the school nurse called reporting he wasn’t feeling well. A few hours later, during a telehealth visit, the doctor saw how hard Lennox was working just to breathe and urged Leila to get him to the ER immediately. By 11:30 PM that night, he was in an ambulance on his way to Seattle Children’s Hospital. He was diagnosed with Influenza A, which quickly turned into pneumonia, and then a collapsed lung. He was rushed into emergency surgery and placed on ECMO -full life support. He has also needed a chest tube and feeding tube to keep his body stable and strong.
Leila and her family later found out there was a 40% chance they could have lost him.
Miraculously, he only needed ECMO for 2 days—which shows just how strong he is! As of April 22, Lennox was finally able to come off the ventilator. This moment is evidence of his strength, resilience, and the unwavering support of everyone who has been by their side. The relief and hope that comes with this step forward is immeasurable, signaling a turning point toward recovery. We celebrate this progress with immense gratitude for the care team and all the love that has surrounded Lennox throughout this time.
Leila is a single mother and a small business owner who has had to put everything on pause to be by Lennox’s side. The emotional and financial toll of this sudden and serious medical emergency has been overwhelming. She is facing rising medical expenses, the cost of meals and lodging near the hospital, rescheduling weeks worth of clients at her salon and the uncertainty of what the coming days will bring has been extremely difficult.
Leila and Lennox are two of the most vibrant, kind-hearted people you could ever meet. Leila always shows up for the people she loves. Lennox is an absolute fire cracker and has the energy of taking on the world. Their light shines so bright, with their exuberant bubbly personalities, and now, they need our light and support in return.
Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward helping them cover medical costs, basic needs, and giving Leila the ability to stay close to her son without the added stress of financial burdens.
If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping them in your thoughts. Your love and support mean the world.
