Cori Grace Guerrero, perfectly made, who gave an experience of “perfect love” to those who gathered around her, passed from the love of her mothers, Stephanie and Erica, to the love of her great-grandmothers in heaven, on July 29, 2024.
Cori Grace had gorgeous dark eyes, graceful long fingers, and a sweet head of soft hair. A preemie, she was born by emergency C-section, at 29-weeks gestation, after one of her mother’s Stephanie developed HELLP syndrome. At birth Cori, weighed two pounds and seven ounces. At 5:21 am, on June 19, 2024, “She came into the world feisty as ever,” Stephanie says. “And we are completely in love with her.”
With the addition of their baby daughter, Erica dubbed them “the girl gang.” Their days as a family of three were precious. Cori loved baths and having her head rubbed. They read to her every day—Dr. Seuss, and The Little Engine That Could.
Cori Grace Guerrero was surrounded by family. Before she died, her mamas were blessed to hold her skin-to-skin, her body finally free from all the wires and tubes. They kissed her face and talked to her. They sang to her “You Are My Sunshine.” They danced with her to Cat Power’s “Sea of Love,”
Come with me, my love
To the sea
The sea of love
I want to tell you
How much I love you
They are so grateful for the gift of her life, even as they are undone by grief.
The Guerrero family asks for your help with covering hospital, and funeral costs in their time of need. Erica is a psychiatric nurse practitioner, who runs her own practice, and has lost pay while tending to her baby. Thank you for helping to lift them up.
