Honoring the Families Who Gave Everything
The Gold Star Family Festival - a music festival
We will still need help for our 2026 festival and thanks for your help
“This is the first time in 13-years that I haven’t just sat home and cried on Memorial Day. Thank you.”
- Sonya Berky, Mother of SSGT Bryan David Berky at our Gold Star Family Festival, May 2022.
“Recently, I spoke to 50 vendors at the future site of our festival. I asked each of them, 'Do you know what a Gold Star Family is?' Only a handful did. That's why we do this. So that the next time someone asks, more people can say, 'Yes. I know who they are, and I honor their sacrifice.'"
- Bobby G., Co-Founder, RGSR Events
Why This Festival Matters
For many people, the words “Gold Star Family” don’t carry much meaning—some don’t even know what it means at all. They don’t appear in headlines unless spoken by politicians, often as a talking point rather than a true acknowledgment of sacrifice. But behind those words are real people—mothers, fathers, spouses, children—who live every day with the weight of an unimaginable loss. When a service member lays down their life for this country, the grief does not end at the funeral. It ripples outward, forever changing the lives of those left behind. Parents lose a child. Spouses lose a partner. Children lose a hero. And yet, once the folded flag is handed over and the last note of Taps fades, society moves on. For many Gold Star Families, that moment of recognition is the last they will ever receive.
We refuse to let the sacrifices that made them become Gold Star Families be forgotten.. The Gold Star Family Festival is about giving these families a place where the sacrifices of their loved ones can be celebrated and remembered as a life lived, a story worth telling, and a sacrifice never forgotten. It is a space where they can gather, share stories, and be surrounded by a community that truly sees them. We have witnessed the healing power of recognition—the moment when a mother hears her son’s name spoken aloud, when a widow is embraced not in sympathy, but in celebration, or when a child sees that their parent’s sacrifice was not in vain.
The Gold Star Family Festival will take place this year on Gold Star Family Weekend September 26th and 27th 2025. Our full line-up of top tier talent in Rock, Blues, and Jam bands will be announced once we reach a portion of our goal. But this is more than just a music festival—it's a two-day, family-friendly event filled with activities, spectacles, fun, and games for all ages. From live performances to interactive experiences, there will be something for everyone to enjoy while we come together to honor and support Gold Star Families. We make sure to always have an Alcohol Free zone. As we like to say about our events, "It's a different kind of happiness."
This festival is a tribute. A way to say: We remember. We honor. We stand with you. Because a life given in service to this country should never fade into silence. You can make a difference by donating, sponsoring, or purchasing your tickets today. See the details below or to learn more or go to the Gold Star Family Festival site [ Gold Star Family Festival ].

Where Your Donations Dollars Go
Donors and Sponsors are the backbone of our festival. Their contributions underwrite every major expense—from booking top-tier regional and national acts to renting stages, lighting rigs, sound systems, and the security and logistics crews that keep everything running smoothly and safely. Sponsorship dollars also help us create family-friendly activities, accessible facilities, and all the small, unseen details—permits, insurance, portable restrooms, power drops—that have to be covered before a single ticket is sold.
Because those production costs are handled up front, every dollar we bring in afterward—ticket sales, concessions, merchandise, VIP upgrades, vendor fees, and on-site donations—can go straight toward our real purpose: honoring Gold Star families and strengthening veteran support programs in our community. In short, sponsors clear the financial runway so the festival can take off, draw a bigger crowd, and generate the surplus that fuels our mission.
Our Goal
The Gold Star Family Festival exists to raise the money needed to design and build permanent monuments honoring our fallen service members. Every ticket purchased, T-shirt sold, and bite enjoyed at the festival pushes us closer to that cornerstone goal. At the same time, the event brings people together—families, veterans, neighbors, and partner nonprofits—for a weekend of great music, shared stories, and community healing. When the final encore fades, what remains is more than memories of a good time; it’s real progress toward new memorials that keep our heroes’ legacies alive for generations.
Donors should not expect anything in return for their donations, including any tickets or camping spots in exchange.
Please help us make this event happen. Every dollar helps, no matter the amount!

Where Donations, Sponsorships, and Festival Revenues Go
Supporting Gold Star Memorials
We began our journey by donating proceeds to the Woody Williams Foundation, helping to establish Gold Star Family Memorial Monuments across the country. These monuments serve as places of remembrance, healing, and community—offering Gold Star Families a space to honor their loved ones outside of a cemetery setting. We remain committed to supporting these efforts while working toward the erection of our own Gold Star memorial at the site of our first festival.
Empowering Veterans and Their Families
Beyond memorials, we invest in veteran-centered programs, including:
- Portions of funding goes to the SSGT Bryan David Berky Veteran Athletic Fund; sponsoring veterans and dependent athletes in tournament sports.
- Partnering with equine therapy programs to support veterans struggling with PTSD and trauma recovery.
- Future expansion into additional veteran support initiatives, ensuring long-term assistance for those who have served.
