We are deeply honored to have been selected as a host location on the 25,000-mile Global Irish Famine Way, an international initiative that commemorates the courage, resilience, and legacy of those forced to leave Ireland during the Great Hunger of the mid-1800s.

The Global Irish Famine Way Bronze Shoe Monument will be permanently located at the Shillelagh Club in West Orange, New Jersey, serving as a lasting tribute to the thousands of Irish men, women, and children who embarked on a difficult journey in search of hope and opportunity in the New World.

As part of this project, our volunteer History Committee has researched and documented the stories of many of these brave immigrants who settled throughout New Jersey. Their remarkable journeys and the lives they built can be explored by visitors through a QR code incorporated into the monument, ensuring their stories continue to educate and inspire future generations.

Planning, research, and construction are now well underway, and we are seeking the support of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to help bring this meaningful project to completion and preserve it for generations to come.
