Cy recently found out he has a Clear Cell Meningioma (Grade 2) which is a rare, aggressive WHO Grade 2 tumor. Almost all cases are associated with a mutation in the SMARCE1 gene. Primary treatment is maximal safe surgical resection, with adjuvant radiotherapy often recommended due to the risk of recurrence.

Since this diagnosis, Cy has been out of work, fortunately he is currently on FMLA leave through his job but is not receiving 100% of his typical pay their family relies on.

Cy has already undergone one brain surgery, during which doctors were able to remove a portion of the tumor. He is scheduled to undergo a second surgery early April in hopes of removing another part of the tumor in a more concerning location. The Doctors anticipate that a third surgery will likely be needed afterwards.

As you can imagine, this diagnosis has brought unplanned expenses, including travel costs to and from Denver, hotel stays and meals, on top of their pre-existing financial responsibilities.
