Support the Garingers' Faith Journey

Hi all! We are the Garingers: Matt, Heather, Shepard, Sebastian, and Shields. What a journey this life CAN be. After 8 years of recovery through Celebrate Recovery and church life at Carterville Baptist Church in Petal, MS, where we found freedom from alcohol, fear, pride, anxiety, and many more sins, Matt and I have felt a burden from the Lord to move to Dry Ridge, KY. Building on what the Lord has done in our lives, we feel a calling to go deeper in our faith, to know Him more intimately, to love Him more passionately, and to chase after Him as if to win the race.

Why Dry Ridge, KY? There is a ministry there that has spoken so much truth and revealed so much of what a consecrated life following after Jesus looks like. Pure Life Ministries, although primarily a live-in treatment center for sexual addiction, the message is one for every Christ follower… through His great grace and mercy, to crucify all self and to pursue holiness because He is worthy, not because we are. To live a life ablaze for His glory, not our own. To die to self and live in Him. We have found our community in this ministry as well as Lighthouse on the Rock Church. We will soon begin going through studies to be certified as biblical counselors. We are so desperate for the Lord to reveal the same answers He has given us to others. This world has made us believe we need Jesus “and”…. But we don’t… we simply need Him, as revealed by the power of the Holy Spirit and through His word. To anyone hurting… Jesus. To anyone addicted… Jesus. To anyone lost… Jesus.

Selfishly, this move is being made also to make us better parents to Shepard, Sebastian, and Shields. We can no longer go another day showing the Lord to our kids as we have. We have been called to do better… to be better. Our children’s eternity is all that matters. We covet your prayers as we navigate the Lord’s calling on our lives.

We are excited… scared… grateful… overwhelmed… and humbled by the truth that the Holy Spirit has revealed to us. The gospel is real… Christ is real… the Holy Spirit is real… let there be no doubt that God will be God no matter our decisions on this matter. But praise Him for allowing, through His mercy, for us to be a part of His plan. We have loved, and continue to love, those who have wept, laughed, and even hid their eyes as they watched Matt and I follow after Christ. We ask anyone reading, if the Holy Spirit leads you, to contribute monetarily to our faith journey as we strive to live a life of missionaries here in the United States. Our greatest need is the purchase of a camper, which is our home now, and all the additional moving expenses that come from leaving everything behind and relocating to a different state. We are every bit of a beautiful mess of a family pursuing the Lord at all costs. It is our prayer that each one of you continue to pursue the narrow way, even if you’re doing a terrible job at it. Keep going forward in Christ for He is worthy.
