Support The Future of Wolverhampton LGBT+
Wolverhampton LGBT+ (WLGBT+) has been serving the LGBTQ+ community of Wolverhampton and the Black Country, and their allies.
Since 2016, WLGBT+ has supported the community by:
- Providing a free and subsidised inclusive counselling service.
- Boosting the wellbeing of many through social activities and events since 2016.
- Being a proud partner of Wolverhampton Pride, advocating for the community.
All done by a committed team of 5 part-time staff members, a cohort of brilliant volunteers, and amazing student counsellors.
With the difficulties LGBT+ people face currently, our work is needed now more than ever. In recent years, LGBT+ hate and homophobic rhetoric has increased.
According to Stonewall and Galop*, within the last decade:
- 2 in 3 people who experienced LGBT+ hate were unable to access support when they wanted or needed it.
- 45% of students have hidden their identity at university for fear of being discriminated against.
- 52% of LGBT+ said they have experienced depression in the last year*
Help us develop, maintain, and improve our services for the future to ensure the safety of our community. Stand in solidarity with us and help us continue to be a place to connect.
We are here to support the community in the good times, and in the bad.
