Support the Future of Kiowa Schools!

On May 15, 2024, Kiowa Schools were awarded $55.53 MILLION dollars to build a new, safe, and modern school campus. This is the largest BEST Grant award in Colorado’s history! We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give our local children a safe, secure, and forward-thinking school campus that will support current and future students for years to come.

Why? The State has identified Kiowa Schools as having some of the highest facility needs in Colorado. We average over $200K in annual repairs per year, and our school buildings currently have over $22 million dollars in deferred maintenance. In fact, Kiowa’s school campus is rated as the worst in Elbert County by the Colorado Department of Education. Our children deserve better!

The BEST Grant program requires a 20% match with local funding, so the Kiowa community must pass a successful bond in the November 5th election, or the grant funds will go to the next school in line.

The cost breakdown is as follows:

$69.98M (100%): Total estimated cost to build a new school campus

$55.53M (80%): BEST Grant award (these funds DO NOT NEED TO BE PAID BACK!)

$13.44M (20%): Required local funding to receive the BEST Grant funds

YES FOR KIOWA KIDS was created to spread awareness about the critical needs that are facing Kiowa Schools, and educate local residents about the facts surrounding the BEST Grant funds and November 5th ballot issue.
