I am asking for you to help this sweet, loving family in any capacity that you can. I lack the words to describe how sweet and kind this family is. I am making this GoFundMe for Amanda, Nick, and Cody. They had their second son, Tyler Lee Fussell, on May 7, 2025. Tyler lived two weeks and passed away due to a heart defect. Tyler was born with HLHS, a congenital heart defect. Tyler’s case was extreme and further complicated by a weak valve, making him not a candidate for the usual course of treatment.

Tyler was scheduled to have a heart surgery to prolong him to be set up on the heart transplant list. The doctors came out of the surgery and told Amanda and Nick they had results back from the genetics that were sent off. Tyler was also diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. The doctors decided that they could not perform the heart-saving surgery for Tyler; he was not a candidate for the surgery. His family bravely went to the hospital every day to be with him, not knowing what that day would hold. They were torn between being home with their toddler Cody and being at Vanderbilt with Tyler after he was born. Nothing can replace the pain or grief they are experiencing. One thing we can help with is the financial situation they have for medical costs and Tyler’s burial. Anything you can give to this sweet family, I know they will be eternally grateful.
