My name is Renata Catlett, proud mother of Cassandra "Cassie" Rice who was called home by the Lord on June 24, 2023.

Cassie was a loving, kind, selfless and spiritual woman. She had an infectious sense of humor - anyone who met her, couldn't help but love her. Cassie was determined and excelled in everything she set her mind to, including transferring jobs across the country from Illinois to Arizona, where Cassie, her husband Abdula and their 14-year-old daughter, Aniyah reside.

In recent months Cassie's health declined and despite her courageous fight and resilience, she passed peacefully at her home in Tempe, AZ. This GoFundMe will help cover the costs of transporting Cassie back to Illinois, where she can be laid to rest, in the land where she was raised and from where her roots grew. Your support will help with funeral and memorial services to give Cassie the farewell she deserves, allowing all those who knew her to honor her memory and say their final goodbyes.
