Hi everyone, it's Veronica. I'll be totally honest, I could use some help right now.

For the past three years, I’ve poured my heart, soul, and expertise into my passion project: Atypical Careers. Ever since university, I’ve dreamed of building a business that matters. After years of saving and soul-searching, I finally took the leap to create the community and resources I wish I’d had as a neurodivergent professional.

I am incredibly proud of what I’ve built together over these last three years. The largest online community for neurodivergent professionals. The launch of my first online course. Countless coaching sessions with folks who think like me. I was even quoted in a new book this year as an industry expert!

I'm so close to making this business fully self-sustaining. I am currently applying for grants and pursuing funding opportunities. I've just launched a group coaching program. I'm investing in online ads to extend the reach of our work. The foundation is there; the finish line is in sight.

So why do I need your help?

To be direct: Our personal savings have run out. While my husband works full-time and has been my biggest champion, his income alone doesn't cover our monthly living expenses. As a neurodivergent person, I’ve tried to balance "bridge jobs" alongside the business in the past, but the result is always the same: total burnout. If I can’t bridge this financial gap, I will have to return to a full-time corporate role and put Atypical Careers on pause. After three years of momentum, having to stop now would be devastating—not just for my dream, but for the community that relies on this work.

I want to be very clear about how these funds will be used. This money is not for the business. Your donations will go directly toward my monthly and daily living expenses. This support buys me the time I need to keep the business running during this critical transition year, secure the grants and funding currently in progress, and support my household, my partner, and my two cats.

If you believe in the value of the work I’m doing for neurodivergent professionals, please consider contributing. Whether it’s $10 or $100, every bit helps keep our household stable so I can keep showing up for this community.

If you aren’t in a position to donate, sharing this campaign with your network means the world to me.

Thank you for seeing me, for valuing this work, and for helping me keep the lights on while I finish building what I started.

With gratitude,

Veronica Yao
