In the world of The Foundation, representatives of distant worlds come together to determine the future of the galaxy. At the heart of an infant society exist the dueling forces of goodwill and ambition. What will be the fate of this new world? How will you make sure you and your people still have influence when the sun rises on a new empire?
In real life, this game is being built one playtest at a time—with the help of all of you.
Adelaide and I started working on The Foundation with a vision in mind for a game that fully immerses itself in a story which takes place outside the boundaries of the box it comes in. This game is but one outlet of that story.
Here’s where we are right now. For a few months, we’ve been playtesting with multiple groups, slowly iterating to find out what works and what needs to be changed. Although we’ve made significant progress this way, we want to speed things up so that we can move towards launching the game on Kickstarter.
A big thing slowing us down is funding. Playtesting is expensive. From printing cards, to acquiring new game pieces, to shipping the beta copy so it can be tested with new groups, to sometimes making entire copies of the game from scratch, the costs pile up quickly.
That’s why we’re asking for help. In order to push The Foundation through the testing stage to its eventual launch, we need some help covering the essentials in the early stages. Any donations you give us will go directly to the development of the game so that we can iterate quickly and propel ourselves onto the next stage: launching on Kickstarter.
If you’re not in a place to support us financially, we totally get it. Even if all you do is follow along on our journey, we’re so happy to share this with you and hope you’ll tell us what you think!
Much love,
