On Thursday, January 28th, Matt suffered a large hemorrhagic stroke. Thanks to the quick actions and excellent care of his friend and neighbor, Pat Williamson, the Fargo EMS team, and the Sanford stroke team, Matt was transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo and taken into emergency surgery.
Following his surgery, Matt fought for his life in the critical care unit of Sanford hospital alongside a team of exceptional nurses, the Sanford stroke team, the neurovascular surgical team, and countless other medical professionals. During this 3 week period, he was in the constant company of his family and friends.
Matt was transitioned into hospice care at Sanford and passed away on Monday, February 22nd surrounded by his family – the people he loved most in the world.
What’s clear is that in Matt’s short time here on Earth, he always went above and beyond to support those in need – in any way that he could. Following in Matt’s footsteps, we would like to do the same for Erin, Olivia and Patrick, and seek to relieve any financial burden.
