Donation protected
On what should have been a joyful day, the Foley family welcomed their beautiful son, Thomas, into the world at just 34 weeks via emergency Caesarean. Immediately after birth, Thomas was airlifted to Mater Mothers Hospital and was diagnosed with persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN), multiorgan dysfunction, severe hypoxia, and a hemorrhage on the left frontal lobe of his brain.
After a difficult start to life and 50 days in the NICU, Thomas was discharged home. But just four weeks later, he was airlifted back to the Queensland Children’s Hospital—this time with RSV and concerning signs of a potential metabolic condition, specifically mitochondrial disease. Since then, Thomas has been experiencing regular seizures, and doctors are still searching for the cause. He is undergoing extensive genetic testing and further MRI investigations to help give his family answers—and hope.
Now just 14 weeks old, Thomas remains hospitalised with specialists expecting a long and uncertain road ahead.
The Foleys have put everything on hold to be by their baby’s side. As small business owners, this unexpected journey has also meant stepping away from their livelihood, relocating the family, including their 7 year old daughter to be near the hospital, and shouldering immense emotional and financial strain.
This fundraiser is to help support the Foley family with medical costs, travel expenses, lost income, and everything else that comes with navigating a life-threatening and unknown diagnosis for their newborn son.
If you are able, please consider donating. Any amount, big or small, will help keep this beautiful family together and focused on what matters most—Thomas’ healing and future.
Thank you for your love, support, and prayers.
