If you haven't heard about it yet, many cities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil are suffering from major floodings. Thousands of families have lost their homes and all their belongings. Hundreds have lost their lives or are missing. Houses and buildings have been submerged in water and are not accessible, shutting down businesses, airports, bus stations, even hospitals are unable to operate. It is expected the water will remain at high levels for another 10 days. All the shelters are overcrowded and do not have enough supplies to provide for everyone staying there due to many supplies being lost in the flooding. The local population are in need of all kinds of basic supplies: like clothes, food, water, medicine, toiletries, mattresses, and any other types of essentials. Some of my family members live in Porte Alegre, one of the most affected cities, and have been volunteering on all fronts, trying to help and give support in any way to the shelters and people in need. Me and my family, here in the States, have decided to create this GoFundMe to help, in the best way we can, by donating some money to help provide essential needs. Their struggle will take, at least, 6 months to start recovering and many years to come back to normal.
